How-to: making a laptop sleeve from Fedex envelopes
No Comment // Written on Jun 25, 2007 // gadgets, outings, projects, tech, travelI remember years ago when the desktop was the cheapest and viable standard in computing (yes, back in 2000, a desktop that costed $2000 was considered as cheap). Now thanks to smaller/cheaper hardware as well as the expanding of the internet to college campuses, laptops have now occupied the popularity throne. Now for those who know me, i love laptops and other assorted gadgets…but at times I can be a klutz and bump things (i.e. my old motorola v300 that’s survived 5 yrs of my clumsy wrath). So when i got my macbook in january, i wanted to make sure it was well-protected from the elements (theft, wear, tear, me). So i used to use a black pouch i found lying around on campus that no one uses, but in this day and age, if anyone sees you walking w/ a black pouch the assumption is made that you ARE carrying a laptop and therefore are considered as live bait to the garden-variety thief. It’s the reason why i never use the trademark white earphones when i bring my ipod outside my abode. Solution? It’s simple, discrete, and cheap if not free.

yes folks!, a FedEx laptop sleeve! According to instructables.com,
FedEx and the US Postal Service both use Tyvek (or similar) material for their envelopes.
So you got yourself a simple way to protect your lappy and also make it look like an innocent FedEx/USPS package at the same time
